Flying Aces

Flying Aces is a two-player playing card game with one page rules (double-sided), where players play as airplane pilots in a fighter duel. The initial rules were designed and developed by me independently over the course of a day some time in the Fall of 2025, and the game been further developed, refined, and play-tested over the course of January 2026 - May 2026 as part of an Independent Study at WPI. All work is mine, however I did receive feedback and advice particularly regarding the visual design and rules presentation from my Independent study advisor. I have had very little prior experience with creating rules documents for the perspective of a new player, so this project is mainly about learning how to present and organize rules in a way to make them easier to learn. I also organized playtesting sessions with WPI students to help gather feedback on the game's design and rules. In terms of gameplay design, I also learned to tweak the rules in ways that make the game easier to learn without sacrificing the depth of the gameplay experience.
